OMEGA PROTEIN RELOCATING
REGIONAL OFFICES TO MOSS POINT

HOUSTON, Texas (July25, 2005) - Omega Protein Corporation of Houston, Texas will move its regional administrative offices from Hammond, Louisiana to Moss Point, Mississippi. The relocation will bring with it 50 new managerial and administrative jobs to Moss Point where Omega Protein employs 240 people at its existing plant and shipyard facilities.

Earlier this year, Omega Protein purchased the Shipley Company's Moss Point electronic materials coatings facility in order to develop enhanced packaging and logistical capabilities and reduce its dependence on third-party warehousing. The Jackson County Economic Development Foundation (JCEDF) and the Mississippi Development Authority worked with Omega Protein to identify the advantages of consolidating its regional administrative operations in the newly-acquired Moss Point facility.

“This announcement is certainly more good news for Jackson County and the City of Moss Point as we work toward a diversified economy,” said Jackson County Board of Supervisors President Manly Barton.

“The Economic Development Foundation reached out to us to quantify Jackson County's many advantages,” said Omega Protein President and CEO, Joe von Rosenberg. “From the Foundation, to the City of Moss Point, to Jackson County, to the State, Omega Protein received overwhelming support at every turn. It became obvious very earlier on that all were committed to supporting Omega Protein's long-term business strategy.”

“Of key importance to the location decision was the recent passage of the Momentum Mississippi legislation,” Leland Speed, executive director of Mississippi Development Authority commented. “With passage of the incentives legislation, the State of Mississippi was able to assist the company with various relocation costs cementing their decision.”

“Omega's decision to expand its already important presence in our community reflects the strength and stability of the company's future market and the competitive advantages of doing business in Jackson County”, said Jerry St. Pe', Chairman of the Board of the Jackson County Economic Development Foundation.

George Freeland, Executive Director of the JCEDF said, “Omega Protein's decision to relocate its regional operations center to Jackson County is a continued positive reflection on our community and on the effectiveness of Jackson County's united effort to attract new investments”.
